Welcome to PowerQuest!

As a company committed to supporting renewable energy, Hawaiian Electric secured a U.S. Department of Energy Million Solar Roofs Program grant to develop course work for Hawaii's public schools. The objective of PowerQuest is to promote understanding of renewable energy solutions in the home and at school.

The web site is designed to help you research information, analyze data, and help you make personal decisions about your energy consumption practices.

Accompanying the web site, an instructional booklet was developed to assist teachers with making students' exploration of renewable energy solutions a meaningful experience. It contains a series of investigations and activities that help make connections between energy consumption practices, environmental impact, and renewable energy solutions. The investigations have been integrated with the Hawaii Content Standards for Science and Mathematics. This booklet is currently available in all Hawaii's public middle and high school libraries.

PowerQuest is an extension of HECO's successful Sun Power for Schools program, a partnership between HECO, our neighbor island subsidiaries, HELCO and MECO, and customers who sign up as Sun Power partners to pay for demonstration photovoltaic (solar electric) systems at public high schools.
